Following of prevacuum cycle, the chemical bars of Bowie & Dick Test Card uniformly darken indicating that residual air has been sufficiently removed to allow complete steam penetration into test card. If air trapped during to exposure phase of the cycle, the color change of the bars incomplete and uneven. Thus cards can provide an immediate indication of inadequate removal of air during a cycle. Direction of use:
FTM Bowie & Dick Test pack used each day, before first sterilization cycle and after the sterilization jacket has reached its operating temperature. FTM Bowie & Dick Tes t pack should be placed in a otherwise empty chamber and on the lowest shelf over the sterilization drain with chemical indicators bars of the test card facing up. Run a standard prevacuum cycle using following parameters: exposure temperature 134 degrees and exposure time 3.5 minute s. After cycle, remove FTM Bowie & Dick Test pack from the sterilizer chamber. Observe chemical bars of the test card. All of chemical bars will have darkened to uniform dark color if the test was successful. If air trappe d in the card during to exposure phase of the cycle, the color change of the bars will be incomplete or uneven.
